Just a collection of some great orthotropic cases for inspiration.
Incredible how the much the eyes changed. The facial shape more or less looks similar from first glance but upon closer inspection you will see that in the before picture she is tilting her head up because the maxilla is down. (forehead is sloping), Also notice how the lip form changed.
Again remarkable difference in the eyes. Obvious difference in the lower jaw indicating that this change is due to the jaws coming forwards. It is crazy to think conventional orthodontics tries to bring the jaws back. And because much of the population had braces, we now believe facial beauty is mostly genetic. This madness (extraction orthodontics) has to stop…
Again dramatic change in facial appearance, closer inspection you can see that the maxilla went up. Face became shorter & wider. Lip seal is effortless where as before it was strained. This is a clear example of good oral posture = good lips & facial form.
Even at age 14 when supposedly maxilla became much more stiff, the face went through quite big changes. Both jaws came forwards, face became more 3D and the eyes became bigger. It is sad to see many kids like Paula at age 14 with protruding teeth with train tracks on.
Changes to an adult face, I definitely think she looks much better in the after picture.
Again the changes in the eyes are impressive. Notice the dark bags under the eyes in the before picture, and a face that is simply melting away. You can visualize the adult version of the kid in the before vs. after picture… completely different individuals with different personalities. Orthotropic intervention is life changing. Again look at the lip strain in the before picture. That indicate habitual open mouth posture. We all know this, but its good to constantly remind ourselves the importance of LIP SEAL.
Mike’s case, she was already past the ideal age for treatment yet she was able to get nice changes. She continued to wear stage 3 at night. In the first frontal shot, notice the strain in her mentalis muscle. Malocclusion can be detected just by observing the muscles!
You can see that the whole skull remodeled into a different shape just by changing posture.
When you begin to really study the changes closely I think there is significant change. For example look at the difference in side profile. The cheekline was headed south before, giving the face sort of droopy appearance, in the after the cheekline is going forwards, face looks much better as a result. The jawline is better too, although you may think its subtle, you have to remember many people in Hollywood pay lots of money to get these *subtle* results. It does make an impact in overall appearance.
In frontal shot you can see that her beauty mask has come forwards & the face seemed to have become more symmetrical.
Big difference in profile, imagine the difference in airway…
Let these serve as inspiration that faces do change due to change in our oral posture & muscle tone.
Orthotropic biobloc stage 3 forces the patient to keep their mouth closed which is resulting in these changes… but 1 down side may be that it will get in the way of posterior tongue posture. Could an individual that’s really dedicated see better results with something like the ALF that doesn’t get in the way of tongue posture, granted he or she begins chewing more and learning to keep mouth shut all day & night?
I will say that I do believe I am continuing to see subtle progress being made in myself, I think maxilla is coming forwards and up. This followed after I made a considerable shift in unconscious oral posture, where my mouth is shut, teeth together each time my attention returns to check on it. but can’t be too careless because it can come apart still from time to time.
Fixing posture feels like standing on a muddy hill, you have to constantly work on it and move forwards, if you stand still and take it easy, you begin to slide back down.
