Comfrey has been used by herbalists to speed bone healing since the ancient Greeks, there is documents of physicians treating the army of Alexander the Great.
I’ve read some pretty miraculous stories of this herb.
It is referred to as “knitbone” herb as it has the ability to seemingly “knit” or put back together flesh, sinew, and bone.
In the above Youtube Video, you can watch Dr. Christopher (famous American Herbalist) talk about one of his miraculous healing stories of Comfrey on a boy that severely burned his hands down to the bone to where conventional doctors could only amputate or reconstruct affixed unusable hands, but by use of Comfrey, one boy made 100{ae022d2295c0485893c83c8425b5bfafafba893c2d19b1bb9bc4c7c9bf3eeba6} recovery, growing back the flesh, finger nails & everything back with no scarring.
The therapeutic actions of comfrey are: Demulcent (soothing; relieves inflammation), cell proliferant (promotes granulation and formation of epithelial cells responsible for mending and healing the body), pectoral (remedy for chest infections), astringent (causes contraction and arrests discharges), nutritive, tonic, expectorant (facilitates coughing), alterative (purifies the blood), vulnerary (medieval term for a plant used to heal battle wounds), mucilage (polysaccharides that have a slippery, mild taste and swell in water), and styptic (arrests bleeding).
My particular interest is Comfrey’s Cell Proliferant Ability, studies found a white, crystalline substance known as allantoin believed to be responsible for the rapid healing, it basically makes cells grow faster.
Many Great Herbalists have written about the power of Comfrey.
“It does not seem to matter much which part of the body is broken, either internally or externally; comfrey will heal it quickly. It is a great cell proliferant, or new cell grower, it grows new flesh and bone alike, stops hemorrhage, and is wonderful for coughs, soothing and healing the inflamed tissues in a most remarkable manner.” -Dr. Shook commenting on the efficacy of Comfrey… (School of Natural Healing by Dr. John R. Christopher 337)
Rapid Healing of Shattered Foot Story
One particular story that I have heard was one gentleman completely pulverized his foot when a heavy barrel dropped on it. Shattering his feet into what appeared to be million pieces on the x-ray, the bones were vaporized. Medical doctor’s only option was to amputate the foot, the fellow refused and began putting Comfrey poultice on it. Some pieces of bones were so fragmented they were all the way up the guy’s leg, well after applying comfrey the body somehow knew to bring all the pieces back together like a jigsaw puzzle, some fragments had to travel back down to the feet from the leg. The guy made 100{ae022d2295c0485893c83c8425b5bfafafba893c2d19b1bb9bc4c7c9bf3eeba6} recovery of the foot apparently.
Now we are getting into real anecdotal type of data here but when I hear about the use of Comfrey and its efficacy in healing bones from multiple sources by people of great track records, I take notice. I wonder the use of Comfrey in what we are trying to do here with adult bone remodeling?
Another herbalist, I found recently, that I’ve been learning a lot from is Tony Pantalleresco, he also advocates the use of Comfrey and Gelatin to repair bone and cartlidge, he says Gelatin increases the effects and uptake of Comfrey.
I found him from this Teeth regeneration video
I’ve been using this TSP formula for almost a week, more to report on this later. As I have been looking for ways to regrow teeth, as I have some fillings I would love to figure out a way to pop them out via regeneration of teeth.
There is sooo many conflicting views on proper diet and nutrition out there. Raw food, veganism, “whole food diet”, Paleo-diet, Keto Diet, fruitarian, etc. People that say eating meat is death and others like Tony that says we require omnivorous diet.
What I respect about Tony apart from the fact that the man is an walking encyclopedia on human anatomy and nutrition, he is showing people how to make cheap home remedies in which he makes zero profit from, now that’s pretty significant and says a lot about who he is and his work. How many health “guru’s” today are always pushing their line of products onto you? I get it, people need to make a living, but one should take all of these things into account and use the muscle of discernment sufficiently to go through all the information out there.
I feel that Tony keeps it real, sharing his knowledge on what actually works not necessary what turns profit, which I respect greatly. So I have decided to take his protocols head on, trying it out so that I can speak more on this from personal experience.
What really made me think Tony knew what he was talking about was that he speaks on the importance of fixing our gut, and most of us are compromised in the gut (colon & bowl) so we’re not absorbing our nutrients. I have had hunches on this problem for a while, gut feeling on it, pun intended. That I was taking supplements but not seeing the results that I thought I should be seeing, and have wondered if there was a problem with my absorption.
I’m the type of person that if I feel even an inkling that something has merit or it could benefit me, then I just go ahead and take massive action to try it out for myself and put it to test.
So right now I am doing the Tri-Sodium Phosphate Mouth Wash, Ascorbic Acid Drink (detoxer and also remineralize bone and teeth), Sodium ThioSulphate Clense (designed to clean the bowels & colon), & following his diet protocol.
Which is avoid all grains and eat a high saturated fat diet with probiotic foods like fermented dairy (cheese, kefir, yogurt, cottage cheese), which has many similarities to Weston Price foundation teachings as well as Cure Tooth Decay book by Ramiel Nagel, which I am sure many of the readers of this blog is aware of. I will mention that Tony is completely against the use of Cod Liver Oil because of unavoidable mercury content and something about fish oils rapidly oxidizing and becoming carcinogenic.
Now I may be jumping the gun introducing some of these new stuff I’ve been experimenting with, I’m simply acting as relay of message at this point and do not have concrete personal experience to confirm any of this yet. So approach with discretion!
Vitamin K2
One thing I want to mention briefly about Weston Price diet is what he called the Activator X, the special element he found in butter from pastured cows grazing on rapidly growing green grass, Well this mysterious substance has been identified as Vitamin K2, which was discovered in 2007 (not too long ago). This Vitamin K2 looks similar to Vitamin K so it has been ignored, Vitamin K is responsible for coagulation of the blood & we get plenty of it in our diet, but K2 although similar in molecular structure has a completely different & unique job in the body & is a lot harder to come by in our modern diet. It’s a vitamin that transports calcium to where it is suppose to go and removes calcium from where its not supposed to be. So it puts calcium into bone & teeth, and takes calcium out from soft tissues. It has been studied to remove artery plaque (calcification of arteries, top contributor of Heart Disease), reduce wrinkles as the calcium deposit from the skin is removed, heal arthritic joints and hands, and what they don’t talk too much on is de-calcification of the pineal gland.
One of my other nutrition mentor had a protocol to de-calcify pineal gland and make people smarter, intuitive, etc and he was using butter oil with “Activator X” 3x per day, Now I know why that worked, the Vitamin K2 in the butter.
Of course it puts calcium into bone so it reverses osteoporosis and makes teeth harder, explains why Weston Price diet makes teeth impervious to cavities.
Imo, the Butter Oil and fish oil stuff sold by green pastures is too expensive.
You can get vitamin K2 from other sources, various cheese contain them like Gouda and Brie which are long form chains of Vitamin K2, MK-9 and MK-10 which is known to have more efficacy than short chain forms found in butter from gass-fed cows which is MK-4. The bacteria creates Vitmain K2 so for cheeses the milk doesn’t have to be raw or grass-fed.
The butter has to be grass-fed because only when the cow’s stomach process the green vegetation is this Vitamin K2 synthesized. Unfortunately humans don’t have the ability to manufacture this vital vitamin and it is poorly recycled in the body. This explains why we are now missing this vitamin from our diet today as our cows are now eating grains & junk soy.
Now some teachers of Vitamin K2 will say Natto, A japanese fermented soy bean food contains the highest amount of Vitamin K2 a long chain form MK-7, and this was exciting because I have no issue eating this food because of my Japanese background, however after learning from Tony Pantalleresco and reading studies on Soy, I am staying the hell away from all soy. Even the fermentation will not remove the myriad of bad effects like fake estrogen, attack on your thyroid, & damage to your digestive track. It was never intended for human consumption, but it has been campaigned & promoted as health food in the past, all designed to make the population sicker, but I digress…
According to Tony though, apparently there’s other ways to remove calcification, like sodium thiosulphate which may be more powerful than the K2 from food. I have noticed right away after taking STS (sodium thiosulphate) that when I make a fist with my hand or stretch some of my fingers, I used to hear some crackling/grinding noise and now that’s gone, so I’m thinking that noise was caused by calcium deposit grinding against the joints, and hands feel much smoother in movement like they anti-aged. I’m thinking do we have calcification going on a long the sutures of the skull and palate making it harder to move things as well?? hmmmm…
Healthy Bacteria in Gut = Supreme Health?
Dr. Christopher speaks on the importance of first cleaning out the bowel, claiming that 90{ae022d2295c0485893c83c8425b5bfafafba893c2d19b1bb9bc4c7c9bf3eeba6} of all disease begin in the colon & bowel. Tony also speaks on the importance of gut and re-population the area with healthy bacteria.
Tony’s theory is that they have genetically modified the grains to make the proteins in these foods unrecognizable by the body, so instead of getting processed, it adheres to the lining of the colon and there is layer after layer of this stuff forming what appears like rings of a tree trunk. This begins to break us down as we no longer are able to absorb the nutrients from the foods we eat, which causes us to feel like we need to eat more while still starving nutritionally.
When Tony gets his clients to remove all grains without exception and follow his diet of high saturated fat and fermented & raw dairy, they suddenly begin to change in body mass composition (changing body type from obese to normal without excercise)
Can this explain the modern day obesity levels? It’s not mainly that we are eating too much, but we’re fed junk that our bodies can’t process so it accumulates?
To clear out the rings of junk, Tony says he has seen nothing come remotely close to Sodium Thiosulphate in cleaning all of this out, so I am trying it now, more to report soon.
I have removed the grains so far, although it will be difficult when certain social situations arise like with family and friends but I am already noticing a difference in my level of mental alertness, that drowsiness after lunch has been greatly minimized. Also I was taking a shower last night and noticed my body is changing as well, I was not obese but the stomach is shedding the fat on it and when I flexed my ab muscles were showing, and I had not been working out. I also noticed increase in muscle mass in my arms and shoulders, this may be due to consumption of raw milk I’ve been sourcing lately.
Conclusion
There is a lot mentioned here, and some of it may not be directly related to orthodontic stuff, but instead of shying away from writing about things that may appear a bit on tangent I’m deciding to simply write about what gets me excited which makes blogging more enjoyable, and hey if some of this stuff leads to helping you with other things, that’s cool too.
At this point I have fully taken on Tony’s nutrition advices, and sourced my own raw milk and started making Kefir with it, which is quite tasty and according to Tony, raw unpasturized dairy is the superfood that everyone should be after, that and good eggs, these two foods alone have all the proteins, enzyme activity, healthy bacteria, probiotics, & healthy fats that our bodies require. I’m fortunate enough in Michigan to live 30 min away from a farmer that can give me this stuff, but it will be out of reach for a lot of you. You just gotta do the best you can given your current situation when it comes to these things, He recommends yogurt and cottage cheese with fat, not the non-fat stuff, and PLAIN with no sugar or other added stuff. And this you should be able to find at your local grocery store. This helps to build good bacteria levels, I have been staying away from these foods for a while because I’ve read from so many places store bought dairy is bad, and although Tony agrees regular milk from store is awful, the fermented stuff the body can actually use and benefit from as the bacteria has digested the pasturized milk and made it bio-available for the body, it is pre-digested food, which makes a lot of sense and an eye opener for me because I have always loved Yogurt but in recent years stayed away from it because I thought it was bad, perhaps to my detriment!!
But yea I think Comfrey is interesting for the bone, what I am doing because I don’t have time to go out there and cut down wild comfrey and make paste from, I simply started applying Dr. Christopher Bone & Tissue Ointment to the face, which has comfrey in it.
Dr Christopher’s Formula Complete Tissue and Bone Ointment, 4 Ounce
Now it has only been few days of applying this stuff and its definitely still too early to make any calls but my skin complextion seems much better lately, this could be due to other things as well like the Sodium Thiosulphate clense I’m doing…
It will probably be difficult to ever isolate the effects of topical application of comfrey in facial remodeling because there’s so many factors to it, and its not like a sprain or broken bone where there is an anchor of acute pain to measure the results from. Perhaps we will notice more rapid gains in muscle tone, feel less sore from chewing Mastiha gum, or those that are using reverse head gear? For those of you with TMJ issues that have the pain, using something like this in conjunction with proper oral posture, you may be able to gauge some of the effects of Comfrey, I would be interested to know.
You read the amazon review and the proof that this stuff works is there, by people resolving chronic back and neck pains, torn ligaments and muscles.
I imagine it would have to help with what we are trying to do with adult face, jaw, maxilla remodeling because the increase in cell proliferation, but again this is anecdotal at best so approach with your own discretion.
What I know for certain for now is that god forbid next time I break a bone, I’m for sure putting Comfrey on it.
Meanwhile in Europe…
Few days ago, Mike Mew and Moreno Conte met and spoke about some stuff… Moreno’s the one that created Starecta, which is a method of increasing teeth height to realign the vertebrae as increasing teeth height raises the base of the skull, this is contrary to John Mew teaches which is all conventional orthodontics extrude teeth, which is increase in teeth height and increase in vertical facial dimension which is generally thought to be undesirable for facial aesthetics as my readers are aware. I am staying open minded to all methods. I am very appreciative of these gentlemen being open minded to explore each others’ different modalities and strive to find new science. It will be interesting to hear Mike’s take on it in the coming weeks, more on this soon.

History of Comfrey: source: http://www.herballegacy.org/Ollman_History.html
Interesting stuff. It looks like you finally accepted the possibility that nutrition affects development. If I recall correctly, you seemed to not believe nutrition was much of a factor many months ago when I first started reading this site.
starecta also looks interesting – hope to read Mike Mew’s thoughts later
I have read his free book – he does appear to have good results but I think he is giving too much credit re the fulcrum of the teeth and not accounting for what the tongue should be doing – pushing the teeth apart and pushing the cheek bones and skull forward. And I cant believe we have been designed to need a external appliance to put on our teeth in order to reach the optimum structure
I refreshed this page and the post suddenly disappeared. Is this now a members-only article or was that a glitch?
Anyhow, I learned a lot from your site. Thanks.
it was a glitch, fixed now!
I read the post this morning – but now all the info. has disappeared. I am also wondering if it is a glitch?
sorry some glitch, its fixed now
What Tri-Sodium Phosphate Mouth Wash do you use?
Thanks!
You make it with baking soda and Trisodium Phosphate, as shown by Anthony in the video.
I bought my TSP from http://amzn.to/1P76GmN
Is this safe to put in your mouth and does TSP occur naturally? It just seems odd putting a “residential dirt cleaner” in your mouth…
After trying it for a week, I see no bad side-effects, it seems to be reversing some dark spots I had on teeth near the gums, and teeth feeling less sensitive. More to report soon..
It sounds like an intimidating chemical but once I tried it, I realized its just salt. Very salty form of salt with phosphorus attached both naturally occurring elements in our diet, but perhaps much more concentrated / purified. Not sure if TSP occur naturally, I’d imagine that it does. Just like sea salt contains many other trace minerals other than sodium.
have you ever tried borax
http://www.health-science-spirit.com/borax.htm
Yes I’ve been putting it in the ascorbic acid drink I’ve been taking
that reminds me to get out the packet of as ascorbic acid that has been gathering dust in the cupboard – how much are you using
i have been using borax for a few weeks now – to help remove fluoride and to see if it makes a difference with testosterone production
using roughly 25 g a day of ascorbic acid, once at night with sodium thiosulphate, and once during the day with ascorbic acid drink with other minerals in it including the borax
Tony’s Ascorbic Acid Drink looks cringefully scary…
What’s the difference between that and just taking vitamin C straight up from natural sources like lemons?
Also, Tony mentions to always take vitamin C with minerals. Wondering how you’re getting the minerals?
Thanks.
I’m drinking the Ascorbic Acid Drink currently, I’m liking it, feel like I’m getting mentally sharper by the day & new found energy coming.
Vitamin C he talks about is Ascorbic Acid, the pure form of Vitmain C, you would have to eat pounds of lemons and oranges to get the equivalent amount which really isn’t possible. Apparently there has been big cover up about efficacy of Vitamin C, for therapeutic usage you need much higher dosage than what is officially recommended as our daily intake, at high dosages it begins to cure all sorts of things. Animals produce this naturally when they get sick, humans unfortunately do not have this ability.
Ascorbic Acid drink contains within it the minerals, Tony says take your minerals with either acid or protein. He says most supplements on market is crap but one he does like is Electrolyte by Nutribiotic http://amzn.to/1JUqS9M , I empty two capsules of those in my Ascorbic Acid mix.
Ascorbic acid is just the antioxidant wrapper of vitamin C. If you want vitamin C then eat rose hips, limes, or other food that has real vitamin C. If you want to change ph then take ascorbic acid or better yet apple cider vinegar. It’s true that you would need to eat a lot of lemons to get a lot of ascorbic acid. But that’s similar to saying you would need to eat hundreds of candy bars with the wrapper to equal a entire trashbag full of candy bar wrappers. Of course we know we shouldn’t eat candy bars or plastic but that’s the best analogy my feeble mind could come up with.
Hello CP,
Thanks for such an informative site. Can you help me out with a few questions?
I recently saw an orthotropics dentist. He suggested I use both braces and appliances at the same time right from the start, and the braces are to help in the expansion.
-Is that ok?
-How long does it usually take for jaw growth in the upper and lower jaws?
-If my main concern is mainly to move my maxilla forward and upwards, is it ok I don’t widen my lower jaws to the ‘maximum’? In case my lower jaw growth may not be able to catch up with my upper jaw.
I have narrow arches(~35mm upper, ~30mm lower), crowed lower jaw teeth, an overbite/overjet, and retracted and ‘dropped’ maxilla.
Thanks!
It took me about a year to finish with expansion phase of the treatment, you will want to expand both the upper and lower, as much as possible.
You will only be able to expand the upper to a certain limit of the lower arch or you won’t have a functional bite. So you need to slowly expand the lower to get that wide as possible.
35 mm is not too bad, I started off with 32mm
Aim for 40-42 mm and you’re above average
Braces and expansion will be okay but not necessary unless your moving teeth, ie reopening extraction spaces, biobloc appliance expanded me just fine on its own, make sure the braces he wants to use is self-ligating braces that uses the flexible light force wires.
Thank you for replying!
I asked my dentist about self ligating braces and he said for that kind I will only need to see him every 2 or 3 months.
-Is it ok to see your dentist only every 2/3 months? In reality, will orthotropics require more frequent appointments? (My dentist is pretty new to this.)
-My main concern is to move my maxilla upward and forward.
Is expansion + tongue exercises enough for this?
Or will you recommend additional stuff eg. the crane?
P.S. I am not sure if you have already heard of it but the GAPS diet is very useful for gut issues. It is similar to Paleo but with emphasis on healing the gut.
Whatever you can do to put long term force on the bone will move it. Whether that’d be tongue posture or wearing a headgear all day long, but the latter option is not feasible for most people living normal lives.
I’m new to your blog. Have just begun goggling everying I can on narrow jaw and modern melting faces, because I have sleep apnea. I’m suffering so bad that I will do/try anything at this point, and after seeing the narrowing effect on the air way by having a narrow jaw, I know now exactly what I need to do. I’m just now sure how to go about it. I live in Thailand so there’s no chance of seeing a dentist who treats this with Mew’s methods. The best I could hope for its too find someone who could exoskeleton my jaws (without properly knowing the method and why I want it done). Its possible I think, but I’d be on my own in knowing how far too go, and what to do if gaps start appearing? I’d like to have ‘expert’ help.
Meanwhile I’ve started sticking my toungue up on the roof of my mouth and trying to swallow without suckling saliva. I’m trying really hard to improve my overall posture. I have extremely tight chin and neck muscles that affects my head and shoulder posture.
I will try chewing gum. But somehow these efforts don’t seem to be enough. I don’t feel like it will happen quickly enough. Or that it will undo the terrible butchery (extraction) and remodeling of my face that happened as a child at the hands of my dentist. I’m 42. Perhaps I’m too old? And my hormones are changing due to perimenopause (which I think is causing the mucus in my nose and throat to thicken, causing the breathing difficulties) I’ve always had narrow airways. I’ve never been able to run. I’ve always suffered from colds. But now… this apnea is so bad I literally cannot sleep and breathe at the same time. It’s killing me literally. And no one in my family/my partner/my doctor believe me. They just think I have a sinus infection and give me sudafed. But I know it’s caused by my jaw. It resonated with me the first time I saw Dr. MEW give a presentation on you tube. It was a eureka moment for me.
So here I am sticking my toungue up. Spit pooling in my bottom jaw. Trying not to suck at it. Trying to source comfrey. Taking bone broth and fermented cod liver oil. Feeling depressed because I don’t sleep and looking at my ugly facial profile, at a loss for options, and wondering if it’s not just all too late for me?
Bone broth is really good at remineralising bone
Hey CP solid post. So much new info here to take in.
Check out H202 as well. it naturally ocurring in our bodies/nature and has so many benefits. Also a miricale sort of substance that does a lot of stuff. Dirt cheap as well. The gist of it is it increases the amount of oxygen in your body. People with recessed upper and lower law naturally take in less air/oxygen so it’d make sense to “artificially” increase the amount of O2 to help aid in whatever the body’s trying to accomplish.
I’m going to expand and protract my maxilla and have this lipus device which I’m interested in using. I’m thinking of putting it against the zygomaticotemporal and intermaxillary sutures. Do you think it could be beneficial for sutural growth?
Yes most likely will be beneficial with consistent use. Where you going to get your LIPUS? problem with the commercial version is that they put a limit on how many times you can use it, which I’d imagine you’d blow through quickly so quite costly…
I have heard that food creating a plaque in the intestinal tract and colon is a myth. Hands burnt to the bone healing without scarring? Hope he has evidence of that. Otherwise great post.
I have ordered some Dr Christopherโs Formula Complete Tissue and Bone Ointment, 4 Ounce. Do you think that by using it on my face it can help heal periodontal issues – ie. regenerate new periodontal bone, ligaments and gum? I have already had some periodontal surgery to clean up and stabalise the top front area – and as a result – the gum has shrunk upwards. Any advice gtatefully appreciated!

I have read White Oak Bark is good for periodontal diseases, it is contained in this product: http://amzn.to/1bJJJJw
Try rubbing that into the gums and sleep with it in.
And Cayenne Pepper is suppose to regenerate the gums which I am still exploring, and it does seem to have an effect at therapeutic dosages: http://amzn.to/1bJKmmm
4 tablets 3x daily
Also the TriSodium Phosphate Oral Mouth Wash from this post seems to be good for teeth and gums.
Congrats on your dietary changes, I’m sure you will continue to see many side benefits ๐ Clear, glowing skin is an important factor in facial attractiveness and excellent diet can provide that.
You would be better off with a whole food form of vit C, as with all supplements the body recognises and assimilates nutrients in their whole form, rather than fractionnated and missing various co-factors and enzymes for proper processing. http://www.thehealthyhomeeconomist.com/beware-of-ascorbic-acid-synthetic/#more-70 There are some quality vit C supps linked at the end of that article. Also ascorbic acid tends to be produced from GMO corn, and only lasts in the body 1 hr, compared to up to 24 for natural form vitamin C.
It makes complete sense that bone remodelling would take place at a faster rate, if an adequate supply of body building materials (principally vit A, D, and K2) are available in the diet. I think this has contributed to my good results so far ๐ I also take daily supplement of 12 schleussler cell salts http://www.homeopathicremediesandtreatment.com/Biochemic-Tissue-Salts-Schuessler-Cell-Salts.php, which corrects for any deficiencies at the cellular level, something else you might wish to look into.
According to 70 years worth of studies, Ascorbic Acid is recognized by the body, and it is utilized very well in curing so many diseases. There is irrefutable proof yet it has been severely attacked by the FDA, the power that be that wants to keep us sick. The whole food Vitamin C promoted by the same people has been so severely compromised and dosage made so weak it has no efficacy in curing anything. The rabbit hole goes deep & the more I learn about health the more I realize everything that has been taught to us is backwards. But the fact remains that it is Ascorbic Acid that has cured people of cancer, HIV, & other incurable diseases. We must be very careful when we pass judgement based on pre-conceived notion instead of personal experience. (Try it before you knock it)
I’ve been on Ascorbic Acid for a week and I’m doing perfectly fine, and feeling great on it.
Hey CP,
I tried out the TSP mouthwash you mentioned and noticed that the action of rinsing for 5 minutes straight really works out the lower jaw. However, it feels like my buccinators are activated a lot through the process of rinsing the teeth (since the motion is sucking and pushing). Is this true? If so, how could we prevent activating the buccinators when rinsing? Thanks.
Sorry, my comment above should not have been a sub-comment. My mistake.
* the body recognises and assimilates nutrients better in their whole form
Actually, there is a lot of controversy around comfrey root. Some people say it can be poison and it has been banned in several countries. What is your take on this?
Take everything you hear in the nutrition field with a grain of salt, there are nefarious factions out there with intentions of keeping the people sick, confused and dis empowered.
I have not had any ill effects from my use, the studies that were done were very one sided and using massive dosages, and use health dosage of common sense, if it begins causing any discomfort, simply lay off.
Good article, it seems like you’re very much where I was at about 10 years ago, with your recent dietary discoveries. I’m still a fan of the WAPF method, and I still get my raw milk from the farm and raw milk cheeses and lots of whole foods and saturated fats, but try not to make some of the MISTAKES that I made that compromised my health despite my ultra “healthy” diet. I’ve been all over the dietary spectrum…I was a vegan, a raw food vegan, a raw food omnivore, I did Natural Hygiene, Macrobiotics, low carb, Paleo, and all kinds of other stuff.
1. When you eliminate foods or whole food groups, like grains for example, you have to watch out for a few things. One is that you have to make sure your calorie consumption stays up. It’s easy to let this slide when on a strict diet, because food can get quite boring and you get tired of the things you’re allowed to eat. So a lot of people end up eating less and less because they lose their enthusiasm for food and develop paranoid fears of “poisoning” themselves with “bad” foods. Then what happens is your metabolism slows down and you get burned-out and end up with symptoms that resemble hypothyroid, or what everyone now likes to call “adrenal fatigue”. Warning signs are things like lower body temps, cold hands and feet, fatigue, increased urination, insomnia, low libido, brain fog, anxiety, constipation and slowed down digestion, hair loss and slow hair and fingernail growth, etc.
2. On almost any new restrictive diet, in the beginning people will experience heightened energy and feelings of mental clarity. Look into this, a lot of it has to do with increased adrenalin. I think this might be because it’s the body’s natural response to a decrease in foods that it needs, or certain MACROnutrients, like people who are eating low carb or low fat for example. The natural response is to feel more energy and clarity because it gives the body the extra boost it needs to go out and search for food. This is a typical response during a fast, and can have beneficial results in the short term, but drawn out over a long extended period of time it can lead to burn-out.
3. When you eliminate a food group, such as grains, or gluten containing foods for example, the gut flora will change fairly quickly and the flora that are primarily responsible for digesting those foods will die out. If you later decide to reintroduce those foods, it will take time for those strains of gut flora to repopulate, and while you’re waiting for that to happen expect to experience various kinds of gastric problems such as bloating or reflux or other unpleasant things, it’s probably just because you no longer have the flora you need anymore and you need to wait for it to come back. A lot of people misunderstand this phase, and misdiagnose themselves as being intolerant to the foods that they are re-introducing. For some people it can be difficult to regain the flora or enzymes that their body has stopped producing, I know a few people who became lactose intolerant after eliminating dairy for a time.
I’m sure there’s probably a lot more but that’s all I can think of right now. I think a natural healthy diet is a very good and very important thing, but one can make mistakes in this area, just like any other and those mistakes can have serious consequences. I learned a lot from reading Matt Stone’s articles at 180degreehealth.com and also the articles at youreatopia.com
Youreatopia is a website aimed at people recovering from eating disorders, but don’t be turned off by that, there’s a wealth of great info there that I believe applies to ANYONE who is seriously investing themselves in the quest for the holy grail of “the perfect diet”. I started out that quest innocently enough, just wanting to be healthy and beautiful, and it turned into an obsession that brought a lot of negatives into my life along with the positives. I enjoy your site a lot and am interested in your discoveries and your thinking, and I would just hate to see you fall into the same traps that I did.
Good luck!
I am well aware of what you are writing on, I did not start my journey in nutrition yesterday, but I have been studying and experimenting for at least 6 years, I even tried the raw food diet years ago and have experience with water fasts. (14 days water fasting at one point)
I do see a lot of danger in this field when we use our mind to over ride what our bodies are telling us, when we use our pre-conceived notions to eat a certain way because we look up to a guru for example or some ideology. I’ve been there and done that.
I do not see simply eliminating grains is on the same level of restrictive diet as something like veganism,, raw food or water fast. So far I am functioning quite well without it. My hunger and energy is stabilized, not spiky sort of energy that you get from a fast or crazy restrictive diet like raw food. I am losing the excess belly fat and my mental endurance is rising.
Here is another theory about grains, it destroys the healthy gut flora, and once you eliminate it for a while and re-introduce it into the body, you could have a reaction to it because you no longer have the tolerance for this poison. I am opening myself up to the possibility that something has to be severely wrong with the normal diet today for people to be falling apart, whether its getting cavities or cancer or other diseases that has become a common place for life, but this is abnormal and insanity. According to Tony grains are the big culprit as it has been genetically engineered as form of biological weapon against the people.
So yes I agree with you about nutrition, the fact that there is so many traps, this is largely why I have avoided speaking on these subjects all together because I have seen how I’ve been wrong in the past & do not want to mislead anybody. Those experiences taught me to be extremely discerning in this field.
You do what you feel works for you :). That the body absorbs nutrients better in whole rather than fractionated form is a fact, and I would be wary of putting anything GM in my body-since the effects are still largely unknown, but I’m sure ascorpic acid has benefits in and of itself. If you know how to muscle test, you could objectively check whether any foods/supps are resonant and beneficial for you at this present moment. I don’t get information about anything from the mainstream by the way ๐
2 teaspoons of the camu camu powder I take would provide about 10,000 mg vit C, which is considered a megadose and in the range recomended for therapeutic purposes by researchers like Linus Pauling, so it’s not difficult to take large doses in whole food form (although it is more costly.) The supplement I take is very good quality, organically grown and processed carefully to preserve all nutrition.
Great post !
Nice post!
Muscle testing can be an extremely valuable tool when deciding what nutrition may suit at a specific time – and easy to learn – Esp useful with the abundance of info available.
utilizing whole foods to obtain a single nutrition can be a tricky one. For example camu camu has a large portion of iron that may prove toxic in the long term.
What do you think about Hailee Steinfeld? Do you think she has worn brace/has had any dental work?
I am trying to learn to recognize natural smiles. She seems to have a wide palate and all her teeth can be seen, even when she smiles a little. Furthermore, from the side, her nose appears short and her jaw-horizontal. But I don’t know, you are the expert ๐
Hailee wears invisalign braces ๐
Yes! I actually noticed that she used to have a gap between her two front teeth. But otherwise, I couldn’t find any pictures of her being younger and with crowded teeth… which leads me to the conclusion that besides the gap, she has always had straight teeth. What do you think?
Liam, utilizing whole foods to obtain particular nutrients is in fact ideal, as nutrients generally come conveniently packaged in nature with synergistic co-factors/vitamins and minerals, which increases their bioavailability i.e makes them more usable by the body. 2 teaspoons of camu camu powder-(which is double the daily dose I use), would provide aproximately 16{ae022d2295c0485893c83c8425b5bfafafba893c2d19b1bb9bc4c7c9bf3eeba6} of your RDA for iron-so not exactly an excessive amount. Taking for example a mineral such as magnanese, which, camu camu does happen to be naturally high in, should your intake exceed your body’s requirement for it, the excess can be easily and harmlessly excreted. This is another advantage of obtaining nutrients in the form of food, as opposed to synthetic, fractionated tablet generally with toxic filler ingrediants.
I’ve had 4 cuspids extracted 7 years ago, I am 19 now. I discovered that not only teeth extraction is bad, but cuspids are the most important teeth as well (responsible for proper bite and dental arch). I feel really powerless as the whole situation was out of my control, I was young, and my parents did what they thought was best for me. The worst part is, no matter how much I chew or train my tongue posture, I can never get my teeth back.
Do you know if reverse cuspid extraction is possible, and if so would you recommend that or just continue heavy chewing and tongue posture (in terms of increasing aesthetics). Thanks in advance.
I am reversing the bicuspid extractions currently and have almost all the spaces required for implants, I have pictures in the membership part of the blog, it has been a long process and costs money. almost 3 years now and over $8,000 for me it has been worth it because now I have much wider palate and possibility of regaining the bicuspid for wider smile. However one should note that it is not always necessary for aesthetics, tongue posture and lip seal and muscle tone is the most important thing, if you correct that its possible overcome even the extractions as Catherine Zeta Jones will tell you. She had bicuspid extractions but because of great oral posture, maintained a beautiful face.
You mean dental implants can support even reverse bone loss after an extraction? Please please reply, this is the best news I’ve heard all day. This could be great if ever (god forbid) one of us needs an extraction
I’m not a member of your blog, I’m a poor person. But my fascination in this drives me to read about this stuff all the time. Maybe someday soon
yes implants will prevent bone loss because bone develops from the stress put on it by teeth or implant
With Tri Sodium Phosphate are there food grade versus general products?
using general product, its just sodium with phosphorus attached to it
I typed a long comment but forgot to type the password…
To sum it, trust me, I’ve researched bones for a long long time and know that all the stuff this site posts about is true and happens in adults just as well as in children, only slower.
What I don’t know is how to restore the enamel/dentin, dentists believe that the tooth is detached and can’t regenerate, yet “remineralization” is accepted by most dentists… Never made sense. If anybody has more tips besides the sodium wash, please please share. Strong teeth are the basis of strong bones, nothing matters more than teeth and I’d love to regenerate mine. Losing 1 tooth = losing several mm’s from your face, it’s essential to study this more and I finaly found a community that
Admin, please don’t keep any info regarding enamel/dentin restoration private, I think It’s important enough to share publicly.
please reply, can I use TSP that’s only 97{ae022d2295c0485893c83c8425b5bfafafba893c2d19b1bb9bc4c7c9bf3eeba6} pure? I didn’t realize it so i bought 100{ae022d2295c0485893c83c8425b5bfafafba893c2d19b1bb9bc4c7c9bf3eeba6} pure TSP, only 2 days left to return the old one
i would use 100{ae022d2295c0485893c83c8425b5bfafafba893c2d19b1bb9bc4c7c9bf3eeba6} tsp
Comfrey has been around for centuries, and in western herbalism, in indeed “the great mender.’ It was used for broken bones fractures. It was used more medicinally than it was as a rejuvenating tonic, but it’s a very interesting usage.
The Weston Price folks – yes the magical Activator X in Butter. I use a Vit D / K2 blend in liquid, and find that a few drops is efficient. Vit D is fat soluable and stored in the liver, and can thus accumulate. Many people are od’ing on the Vit D. Too much of a good thing. The K2 in combo with Vit D is a efficacious combination, but you do need that that much at all. The Cod Liver Oil of course still works well, but of course once again, Vit A and D are both fat soluble so you have to be careful not to over do it.
I have been doing the tongue to the roof of the mouth, and find that it’s especially hard to do it with all my teeth touching. But as I practice, it seems to get easier.
The results are astounding after a strict regimen of tongue to roof posturing and chewing Falim Gum. I am doing it all.
I hadnt thought of adding a Vit D / Kit 2 component. That makes alot of sense.
Also, there is a product line created by a Dentist back in the 1920’s / 1930’s. His name was Royal Lee. He was a few products which are purported to “remineralize” the teeth. If you can avoid a cavity or root canal, and remineralize decaying teeth, than it would be pretty cool. It’s all based on nutrition though. And I am sure in theory its possible, but it takes time.
I will not mention the name of the product line, but it would be another alternative to the Comfrey Root in terms of bone health. If you wanna email me, I am happy to give you the name of the one that remineralizes teeth to avoid fillings & root canals. Its pretty cheap too.
Hey how much Ascorbic Acid did you take and do you still take it? Today I took my first dose of only around 5 grams (according to Tonys formula I would need around 25 grams) and now I had crazy loose stools. I do not want to have loose stools all the time and worry about it when I am out.
What is your take on it?
